Digital music, whether it’s an app like Pandora or Spotify, or an mp3 player, doesn’t have a “friendly voice” or “bright antennae.” There’s no “emotional feedback.” And most of it certainly is not “almost free.” I recently heard this classic Rush song and couldn’t help but think about how radio touches people emotionally. People have a very special relationship with the radio, their favorite radio station, and their favorite radio personalities. This song never would have been written about streaming music services.
